Ancient carnelian intaglio of Mars with helmet and cornucopia in one hand and figure of Victory in the other, set in a later gold ring dating from the 19th century.
Mars was the Roman god of war and agriculture and father of Romulus and Remus, the founders of Rome. The intaglio dates from the 1st - 2nd century A.D.
